Accident reconstruction is done by gathering and preserving all the physical evidence at the scene as well as the involved vehicles and equipment, analyzing the related data using scientific and engineering principles, physics and mathematics, and communicating findings through reports, expert testimony, and 2D/3D visualizations.
A typical comprehensive accident reconstruction usually costs between $5,000 and $50,000 assuming a typical two-vehicle collision. The cost can vary dramatically depending on the severity of the crash, commercial vehicle or heavy equipment involvement, the number of vehicles involved, deliverables needed and the level of expert testimony required.
An accident reconstruction is only as good as its foundation. The foundation underpining every good reconstruction is the electronic and/or physical evidence. At Quest Engineering, every accident reconstruction starts with the evidence. We combine detailed vehicle and scene examinations, witness statements, and analysis based on scientific and engineering principles including the laws of physics to develop an accurate reconstruction of what happened. While external factors like evidence quality and availability, environmental conditions, and scientific uncertainty can influence absolute precision, our experienced engineers can minimize uncertainties and establish robust constraints by properly interpreting the evidence and applying independent methodologies.
